The Art
Nillumbik has long been a place of creative inspiration. Artists sought picturesque landscapes early this century discovering Eltham and surrouding areas. Initially painters' camps then colonies of artists, such at Montsalvat and Dunmoochin were established.
As the years passed, painting and drawing crossed over into architecture and sculpture, music and literature, as talent and talented families flourished. And the legacy lives on. In studios and galleries, in bookshops and at the performance venues discover the arts of Nillumbik.
There are a number of highlights in Nillumbik's annual arts calendar: The Artists' Open Studios in May / November each year (see below), many galleries and displays and various mudbrick tours around the area.
